Mr. Kawaja - Did you start DST as a Y2K site or was it after WTC 9-11? Tim, please call me Peter. I formed DST long before year-2000 or 9-11 (2001). It was back in 1993 and began offering services in South Florida through Hurricane Andrew-1995 and then in North Carolina. DST is merely an offshoot of my 35 year security career. I am retired from the "security" side and more focused on Environmental and Health concerns.

So you don't do security at all? Never say Never - I occasionally consult on security matters, but you can say my physical security career is over. Electronic surveillance, detection, life safety and environmental systems - energy management, conservation, and eco friendly renewable energy systems are my priorities now, along with health issues and earth changes.

What makes what you are doing different from stores selling survival products?
Tim, let me take a stab at answering you in this manner;

There are a variety of pre and post Y2K and now 9-11 vendors of survival hardware, just as there are intentional communities based on political/religious (or not) beliefs, eco consciousness, wellness, vegan, mother earth, militia and others (living Off the Grid). 
The hardware groups are outlet stores and online Ecommerce shops selling everything from gas masks to grains, MRE's etceteras. 
The intentional communities are as stated already, those who seek others like minded and/or conformed based on lifestyle, beliefs, or other qualifying (screening) preferences in their Charter. You have extremes at either end, from hug-a-tree types to militant groups. Like a religion, you have to be one of them to fit into a specific type of community.

What I am doing is firstly informing, educating, preparing. I am of the opinion we should not wait until a disaster hits, whether an earthquake, flood, comet/meteor, or nuclear war - to get back to basics, being self-sufficient and in harmony with nature and humanity. It is a matter of "quality of life" first and foremost.
So - you are advocating we live in tents without air conditioning? 
Haha - no Tim. I'm not promoting selling your home, giving half your money to the poor in another country, get rid of your jewelry and live a life of poverty and hardship "on purpose". Quite the contrary - There is a middle of the road having your cake and eat it, even in light of the current world situation, but especially because of the world situation.

Are you referring to the war on Iraq or the Al Qeada Terrorists?
Yes - but worse. WORSE?
Listen up Tim, these are perilous and uncertain times and the world will never be the same - ever again. Oh my God, you sound serious. What do you mean?

Okay - whether I agree (or not) with the current US administration's policies on global affairs, here is your reality check:
The US has named several nations as The Axis of Evil, we are about to go back to renewed war-bombing Iraq but alone, not like we did in the Gulf War in 1991 with Coalition Forces. This will be more of a US war we fight alone, forget "the coalition of the willing", that is a Holly-wood Indiana Jones sequel - not reality.
Next, the US has stated on National TV we do not trust Syria, Iran, China, Libya, and are demanding North Korea disarm. North Korea already has nuclear weapons. Lets not forget India and Pakistan in the current "war on terrorism" and our estranged relationship with Saudi Arabia and Russia. 

Tim, I believe (right or wrong, voluntarily or not) we have taken the position as the world's police force and reached a point of no return. So you believe something worse than the world trade center attack will happen in America?  

Yes - whilst Homeland Security is intensely monitoring Americans and shaking down Canadian Citizens WITH valid Canadian Passports, on our southern borders, untold thousands of illegals are entering the US every day as we speak. This is akin to gun control. The bad guys, the criminals, don't apply for a license to buy a gun with a "traceable" serial number and go rob a bank. Likewise, terrorists aren't going to try and sneak a biological or nuclear (dirty) weapon through an airport (for the most part) when they can drive a truckload across our southern border without scrutiny. So you are saying we aren't doing such a good job on protecting Americans?

You said it Tim, not me. And in spite of all this new federal government security, on the news today we hear how some 9 or more potential terrorists entered the US across the Canadian border where we do have plenty of this new Federal Homeland Security operating.

Wait Peter - are you saying the government cannot protect us?
Tim - I think you should go ask those who died in the World Trade Center buildings (or their surviving family members) that question. Then go to Israel and ask the civilian population if the IDF has been able to protect them.  Even though Palestinians have very few guns and the Israelis are armed to the teeth with automatic weapons and Tanks, and the Israelis enforce curfew, patrol in Tanks and Armored Vehicles, blow up Palestinian Homes, perform house to house raids / Dynamic Entry's - almost every day in America we hear of more deaths in Israel. (so much for safety in Israel).
More Homeland Security will change our American way of life - we will become like the Israelis always living in fear of going shopping, taking a bus ride, eating in a restaurant, or going out to a night club. Is this the type of life you want for you children Tim?  Do you want to worry that taking your wife and kids to Disney World next year - they may be blown up?, or maybe it will be you who will die?

WOW - I never thought about it that way Peter.
Tim - that's just the tip of the iceberg. How about we turn the tables 180 degrees? (what do you mean?)
How would you like to live a life like a Palestinian or North Korean?

You can't find work, your family is starving, your 14 year old daughter could be raped almost every day in the streets, tanks and men in military gear patrol your streets, unsanitary conditions abound, dusk curfew is enforced, there is no happiness or quality of life, all you hear on TV is murder....WAIT Peter, you mean like I saw in the movie RED DAWN?   EXACTLY !  You can't be serious Peter?
DEAD SERIOUS BUT WORSE - it is now only a matter of time before a combined Red Dawn, Outbreak, The Postman (as-in the movies), and perhaps a Mount St. Helen's or  Nuclear Winter all happen at the same time across the land - lasting one or more years. Millions will die. How about the (secret) Pentagon Reports or strange weather conditions around the world or hurricanes/floods/tornadoes in the US?

Tim, conspiracy stories abound on the web (too many to read them all and not that I totally agree with their storyline) that the US had prior knowledge of the WTC-attack and could have prevented it but didn't. Other conspiracies like Operation Northwoods - the military industrial complex actually planned terrorist attacks on Americans, or have you ever read the book or seen the video Iron  Mountain ? (no).

Tim, the list is endless - but let us deal with what you know Tim, no conspiracy theories here, okay? OKAY.
Do you believe that even if the US is right in going after Saddam and bombs nations, kills untold thousands of civilians in several countries (as collateral damage), that at some point (we are not going to make more terrorists from angry grieving survivors) either a terrorist group will retaliate, or worse as-in the North Korea scenario, a nation with nuclear weapons, if their people are starving, that they would not attack the US?  Who do you think these terrorists or nations consider "the US",  Who is vulnerable, Who always suffers Tim?  YES - The American People. Correctomundo Tim.

If you've done any research Tim, you know the government has built underground CITIES capable of housing MILLIONS of "federal" employees and "special people" - NOT YOU OR I, in event of Nuclear, Chem-Bio, or other catastrophic event.  WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE THE AVERAGE AMERICAN - Tim?  The government has secured their survival using taxpayer money, but who has ensured your safety? Do you really believe buying Duct Tape and plastic is any kind of solution? Hmm. 

Taking it a step further Tim - Israel gives weapons and Gas Masks to, and teaches their civilian population, how to protect themselves. Why does the US Government not do the same for Americans? The US also wants to mass vaccinate the American population by force or threat of jail or quarantine. Will you take the Smallpox Vaccine Tim?....Tim......
